Delivery

We will deliver orders over £250.00 up to a distance of 100 miles using our own transport. We charge £80.00 per hour one-way to cover the costs of fuel and wages with a minimum charge of £30.00. For instance, a delivery to Oxford taking half an hour would be billed at £40.00. We also use pallet line and a delivery firm to take plants further outside our delivery area or to augment our own delivery service. Prices start from £70.00.
All costs above exclude VAT @ 20%.

Terms and Conditions General and Delivery. (Trade)

Delivery Terms and conditions

    1. Delivery is to the kerbside/driveway and our drivers are unable to carry plants round a site to the planting location. If this is not possible let us know ahead of time so we can quote for the additional time and adjust the delivery schedule accordingly. If the driver is required to take plants to the back garden, wait on site etc, we charge £10 (+vat) per 15 minutes delay.
    2.  It is your responsibility to ensure there is a safe location to unload which is directly accessible by our vehicles.
    3. We do our best to estimate time slots for the delivery, however we can’t guarantee the times given due to conditions out of our control. Please ensure you schedule delivery with a buffer, so you don’t have staff waiting in the event of a delay. We recommend getting the plants delivered the day before they are needed, just to be safe.
    4. Unfortunately, we can’t leave the delivery crates behind, so the plants will need to be decanted from them.
    5. The driver can’t wait while you check the order, normally the drivers won’t know their plants, and don’t have stock in the van, so if there are any issues contact the office once you have checked and we well rectify any errors if any arise.
    6. When we dispatch by pallet, we don’t have any control over it once it leaves site, we normally struggle to get any updates from the network. We do book them for next day delivery, but we can’t give times, and on occasion when the transport network is stretched it can take two days, so again please make sure there is an appropriate buffer in timing.

    General Terms and conditions

    1. For all new customers payment must be made prior to delivery or on collection. For regular customers payment must be made within 14 days of the invoice date.
    2. Unfortunately, we cannot offer credit accounts.
    3. We accept payment by debit cards, credit cards, cash and BACS payments when paying in advance, details are at the bottom of our invoices. We no longer take cheques.
    4. We request a 25-50% deposit on orders of contract grown, reserved, and bought in stock. This is non-refundable if orders are already assembled on site and stock is of an appropriate standard.
    5. In default of payment, interest will be added to the outstanding account calculated at a rate of 1% per month.
    6. Any complaint must be made as soon as possible. We will replace plants which are discovered to be the wrong variety, or which also have underperformed at the nursery. We will not accept liability for any losses incurred as a result.
    7. We aim to update our availability list every month, prices and stock may occasionally differ from the AV list as batches sell through and new batches become available.
    8. Pot sizes change throughout the year with our propagation and potting regimes. Smaller pot sizes are often potted on for summer to create bigger more drought-resistant, hardier plants.
    9. All orders, including those gathered by customers, will be subject to a 50% surcharge for plants less that 3 per species. This excludes specimens and trees.
    10. All plants remain the property of Babylon plants until paid for in full.
    11. Plants and prices are quoted subject to availability at the time of quotation. Prices and availability may change at the time of order.
    12. Orders must be confirmed in writing by email. The placing of an order confirms acceptance of these Terms and Conditions in full.

    2.  It is your responsibility to ensure there is a safe location to unload which is directly accessible by our vehicles.
    3. We do our best to estimate time slots for the delivery, however we are susceptible to traffic, drive being blocked, drivers getting held up etc, so we can’t guarantee the times give. The driver will give a call when he leaves giving a closer approximation of arrival time. Please do make sure you schedule delivery with a buffer, so you don’t have staff waiting in the event of a delay. We recommend getting the plants delivered the day before they are needed. Just to be safe.

    7. The driver can take plants to the back garden, wait on site etc, but we do charge £10+vat per 15 minute he is delayed. We have had to do this due to a few cases where the driver was held up resulting in a delay to the rest of the deliveries, which wasn’t fair on the other customers waiting for their deliveries. It also means we get less deliveries in the day if the driver is held up on site.
